Artist Statement

"I am a self-taught figurative watercolorist who likes to develop paintings that speak to the public. My background, caring for children in foster care, has made me into a more sensitive person. This tendency impacts what I expect from my paintings and their emotional narrative."

Biography

Daniela Werneck was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a self-taught artist with a degree in Interior Designer from the Fine Art School at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She worked in interior design area until moving to Australia in 2008. In 2015, Daniela became a full-time visual artist, focusing in realistic figurative watercolor. She has exhibited nationally and has received several awards in regional and national competitions. Her work is published in books and magazines, such as Splash – The best of watercolor, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, and the Watercolor Artist Magazine. Currently, Daniela resides with her husband and sons in Katy, Texas. She is represented by RJD Gallery.
